Freelance Tour Guide – Kyoto (Guydeez)

About the Role

Guydeez is looking for enthusiastic locals in Kyoto to lead private, personalized walking tours. Share the city's rich culture, history, and famous landmarks with travelers from around the world. No professional tour guide license is required—what matters most is your passion for Kyoto and your ability to create memorable experiences.

Position Details

  • Job Title: Freelance Tour Guide
  • Location: Kyoto, Japan
  • Contract Type: Freelance
  • Compensation: 22,000 JPY/day + performance-based bonuses
  • Schedule: Flexible — choose your own days and hours

Responsibilities

  • Lead walking tours tailored to guests' interests (3–8 hours)
  • Share insights into Kyoto's history, traditions, neighborhoods, and landmarks
  • Provide a warm, authentic local experience
  • Optionally host food-focused tours if interested

Requirements

  • Excellent knowledge of Kyoto's culture, history, and key attractions
  • Fluency in at least one: Spanish, English, French, German, Chinese, or Portuguese
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience in guiding, hospitality, or customer service is a plus but not required

  • Performance Bonuses: Based on guest feedback and tour quality
