Job Overview

The Merchant will play a crucial role in managing our supplier base, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of commodities that meet production requirements. This involves buying and selling commodities with country elevators, producers, feed mills, and processors.

Main Responsibilities

• Collaborate with transportation, logistics, quality assurance, customer managers, and credit manager to ensure efficient execution and resolve routine problems.
• Plan purchases and transportation to maximize profitable use of stock and storage facilities.
• Enter routine data and run reports from our contract management databases and systems.
• Research and analyze freight opportunities to maximize margin.
• Handle basic issues under direct supervision and escalate complex issues to relevant staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• B-to-B sales experience.
• Trade practical knowledge.
• English communication skills at business level (verbal, written).
• Japanese communication skills at native level (verbal, written).

Estimated Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per year

This position requires strong communication and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the commodity market and be able to provide expert advice on supply chain optimization.
