We are seeking an experienced Japan Equity Long/Short Portfolio Manager to run a discretionary or systematic long/short equity strategy focused on the Japanese market.
Manage a Japan-focused equity long/short portfolio with full ownership of idea generation, portfolio construction, risk management, and execution
Conduct fundamental and/or quantitative research on Japanese equities to identify alpha opportunities on both the long and short side
Develop and maintain a robust investment process with clear risk controls and performance accountability
Monitor portfolio risk, factor exposures, liquidity, and drawdowns, and adjust positioning as needed
Collaborate with internal teams such as trading, risk, and operations to ensure smooth portfolio implementation
Requirements
Proven experience managing or contributing meaningfully to a Japan equity long/short strategy
Strong track record of alpha generation in Japanese equities
Deep understanding of the Japan equity market, including corporate structures, governance, and sector dynamics
Strong analytical skills and disciplined risk management mindset
Ability to work independently with high conviction and accountability
Location
Based in Tokyo, or open to relocating to Tokyo
