【 Job Description】

As a Machine Learning Engineer in this role, you'll be responsible for developing machine learning models and image processing algorithms, primarily for satellite imagery.

Earth observation is a key mission for satellites, a field known as remote sensing. This technology captures more than just visible light photos; it also images various electromagnetic wavelengths, such as infrared and SAR radio waves.

While Earth observation data is complex and vast—including geospatial and temporal metadata—its fundamental structure is similar to that of standard images, allowing for the application of common image processing techniques.

Services that utilize satellite imagery are steadily increasing, but the full potential of vast Earth observation data has not yet been unlocked.

There's a significant opportunity to create unprecedented solutions by combining data from different satellites and sensors with ground-based IoT data, and by applying these to new countries, regions, and business domains. This is a role where you can make a major contribution to solving global challenges by exploring innovative ways to use satellite imagery, free from conventional thinking.

The company is looking for individuals who want to lead the global space business with them. No prior knowledge of space engineering is required, as you will acquire the necessary skills after joining the company.

【Responsibilities】

・Developing machine learning models and image processing algorithms for solutions that utilize satellite imagery.

・Preprocessing satellite imagery and enhancing its quality.

・Building data pipelines for service delivery.

・End-to-End Involvement: Since the company handles everything from satellite development and operation to data utilization in-house, you can work with a broad perspective, for example, providing feedback from necessary data to the satellite design.

You'll be joining the Software and Platform Systems Department, which consists of:

・One manager.

・12 full-time engineers.

・9 interns.

*The team has a diverse age range, with members primarily in their 20s to 40s.

【Tools and Environment】

・Primary Language: Python (with some use of Rust and TypeScript).

・Provided PC: Generally based on your preference.

・Development Environment: macOS or Linux (including WSL2).

・Communication: GitHub, Slack, Zoom.

・Code Management: GitHub.

・Task Management: GitHub Projects V2, GitHub Issues, Redmine.

・Version Control: Git.

・CI/CD: GitHub Actions.

・Infrastructure as Code: Terraform.

【 Requirements】

【Required】

・Knowledge of image processing including machine learning

・Experience implementing machine learning models and image processing algorithms in Python for images

【Preferred】

・Experience working with remote sensing data and geospatial data

・Experience in developing services with core functionality using machine learning, knowledge of MLOps

・Ability to read and understand English language papers and technical documents and project them into your work

・Experience using AWS
