ERM is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Consultant to join our growing technical team in Japan. In this role, you will provide technical assistance on health and safety compliance projects, safety oversight, risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and compliance assurance programs for both domestic and international clients.

The Role :

The consultant plays an active role in consulting service delivery and supports business development activities. You will be responsible for delivering large, complex EHS (HSE) projects and ensure that client satisfaction is upheld through project communications and engagement as well as quality of outputs produced to deliver client service excellence. Being a subject matter expert, we expect you to have prior experience in performing and reporting a variety of Environmental, Health & Safety diagnostics, audits and assessments.

The ideal candidate:

To be successful in this role, you have a client focused approach and is an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing. You know Japanese EHS regulations and have good Japanese and English skills. A self-starter, you have good judgement and the ability to build relationship and collaborating with stakeholders. A degree in environmental engineering, safety, science, or related discipline would be a plus to your application.

Responsibilities & tasks (not limited to)

  • Adhering to all ERM and client requirements, specifically those related to Health & Safety and governance.
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance, sustainability, site investigation, and due diligence transaction projects.
  • Perform EHS compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with local regulations.
  • Support development and implementation of EHS Management Systems, permitting and compliance assessments and audits to ensure effective risk control and regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in project reviews to identify risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or above, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, hydrogeology or relevant field is preferred.
  • A minimum 3 years of professional experience
  • Preferred experience in project management of multi-disciplinary environmental, engineering/design or other technical studies.
  • Open to travel.
  • Fluent Japanese and English.
