Senior Architect - Data Platform

A leading global e-commerce company is seeking a Senior Architect to drive the architectural vision and technical direction of its software platforms.

The Technology Platforms Division is responsible for building and operating infrastructure and ecosystem platforms, while the Data Platform Department automates data ingestion, discovery, governance, and queries, supporting a data-driven approach across over 70 services.



Position Overview:
The Senior Architect will guide engineering efforts to deliver scalable, robust, and innovative solutions.

This role requires expertise in system design, leadership, and collaboration across teams to ensure the development and maintenance of high-quality systems.


Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain large-scale systems in response to business requirements.
Deliver high-quality solutions, managing project timelines effectively.
Define strategies and introduce new technologies to achieve company goals.
Create and maintain technical architectural documentation.
Lead system improvements through refactoring, adopting new technologies, and refining architectures.
Provide leadership and mentorship on the technologies and tools used by the team.
Collaborate with other architects, serving as an expert on key technology stacks.
Stay ahead of industry trends and integrate new solutions into the ecosystem.
Contribute to best practices and company regulations.


Mandatory Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent education and experience (10+ years).
Expertise in software design methodologies such as Domain-driven design, Clean Architecture.
Strong knowledge of clean coding practices, testability, and dependency injection.
Proficiency in CI/CD Pipelines and Automation.
Deep understanding of programming paradigms: Structured/Imperative, Object-oriented, Functional (both dynamically and statically-typed).
Expertise in synchronization in multi-core and multi-CPU systems (Memory Consistency Models, Cache coherence, Out-of-order execution).
Ability to convert business requirements into solution architecture designs.
Cloud platform experience (GCP preferred) and distributed computing frameworks like Spark, Flink, Kafka.
Knowledge of Iceberg, HUDI, Data Mesh, and Data Lakehouse architecture.
Experience designing and developing batch and real-time data pipelines.
Proficiency in at least one programming language: Scala, Python, Java.


Desired Qualifications:
5+ years of experience understanding business requirements and coaching tech leads.
Hands-on experience with BigQuery/BigLake or similar technologies.
DevOps expertise with Docker and Kubernetes.
Familiarity with data catalog and governance processes.
Networking knowledge is a plus.
