Job Title
A Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and implementing commodity strategies that drive business growth and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops, aligns, and implements commodity strategies to optimize business performance.
- Negotiates and manages agreements with suppliers to ensure alignment with Applied Materials' business objectives.
- Collaborates with the Procurement Leadership Council (PLC) process to ensure strategic alignment.
- DIRECTS new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements within the Applied Materials supply base.
- DRIVES resolution to systemic supply chain issues affecting quality, cost, delivery, or lead-time, including engagement with sub-tiers.
- DEVELOPS and presents high-level cost reduction opportunities to senior management.
Functional Knowledge:
- Demonstrates expertise in a specialized field or discipline.
Business Expertise:
- Interprets business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services.
Leadership:
- MAY LEAD functional teams or projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and complexity.
Problem Solving:
- LEADS others to solve complex problems using sophisticated analytical thought.
Impact:
- Impacts customer, operational, project, or service objectives.
Interpersonal Skills:
- Communicates complex concepts and negotiates with others.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree preferred; Associate's Degree acceptable.
7-10 years of experience in a similar role.
Familiarity with procurement processes and tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Effective communication and negotiation skills.
Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
