About the Opportunity
As an Accountant based in Japan, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring financial reporting and tax compliance.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all general accounting activities of the company.
- Ensure accuracy of financial reporting and tax compliance.
- Supervise the outsourced accounting team and ensure they meet targeted Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Support the finance team in designing robust controls and processes to maintain a strong internal control framework.
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of accounting standards on transactional and technical aspects.
- Familiarity with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Japanese Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (JGAAP).
- Knowledge of key tax compliance matters, including Japan consumption tax and income tax.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills to analyze data and report findings to the Finance Director.
- Proactive mindset and ability to adhere to internal processes while fostering ideas for improvement.
- Demonstrated commitment to making a positive impact with high levels of integrity and consistency.
- Effective management skills to monitor the outsourced accounting team.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills with a positive outlook.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and previous experience with an accounting system.
- Ability to manage sub-ledgers, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and Fixed Assets (FA).
- Fluent Japanese language skills are mandatory. English language proficiency is preferred, with the ability to demonstrate professional usage through written communication.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is highly desirable but not mandatory.
Salary: ¥5,000,000 - ¥7,000,000 per annum, depending on experience.
