Role Title: IT Engineer / SOC Analyst
Nihon Cyber Defence, a leading Japanese Cyber Security company, are actively growing their international team and are looking for a dedicated IT Engineer / SOC Analyst to join our Tokyo office. This is a dual-role requiring strong foundational skills in IT engineering (systems, networks, support) and SOC operations (SIEM monitoring, incident handling). You will work directly with our Japanese clients and internal teams, intermediate Japanese communication is required.
Responsibilities
- Provide IT support for internal systems, user devices, and network troubleshooting.
- Manage user accounts, email, and permissions in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint).
- Support and maintain AWS infrastructure (basic EC2/S3/IAM operations).
- Handle website updates, domain renewals, and coordinate with hosting providers.
- Monitor and respond to security alerts using SIEM tools (e.g., QRadar, Splunk).
- Assist in basic vulnerability assessments and endpoint protection monitoring.
- Maintain IT documentation, asset inventory, and support compliance tasks.
- Communicate in intermediate Japanese for IT-related discussions and reporting.
Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in IT support, system administration, or SOC operations.
- Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, web application architecture, authentication mechanisms, etc.
- Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, QRadar, ELK), EDR, and cloud logging (AWS, Azure).
- Scripting knowledge (Python, PowerShell, or Bash) is a plus.
Language Skills
- Japanese: JLPT N4-N3 or equivalent (must be able to handle IT-related conversations and write simple emails).
- English: Strong verbal and written communication required.

- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting mindset.
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with global teams.
