Hitachi Energy is seeking an Consulting Sales Manager based in Japan. This role is responsible for driving the growth of Power Consulting's business across Japan and the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Working closely with the global Power Consulting organization, this individual will identify and capture opportunities to deliver value-added, technology-agnostic consulting services to customers.

Power Consulting plays a pivotal role in helping customers integrate renewable generation, develop grid infrastructure, and optimize complex energy systems including data centers and e-mobility applications.


Our ideal candidate will be fluent in Japanese and English, possess strong interpersonal and consultative selling skills, and demonstrate a collaborative approach to internal and external stakeholder engagement.

We seek someone with the agility to work across cultures and markets, the discipline to build long-term customer relationships, and the drive to succeed in a dynamic, fast-changing energy landscape.

Your Responsibilities

  • Defines and executes key sales and business development activities for Japan and APAC, setting targets for volume, margin, and portfolio mix.
  • Develops new opportunities and expands scope with existing customers across utilities, developers, industrials, data center operators, and emobility players.
  • Leads the growth of Power Consulting services in Japan and APAC by leveraging strong customer engagement, opportunity identification, and effective proposal strategies.
  • Facilitates collaboration with other Hitachi group companies to drive consulting growth and codevelop digital portfolio offerings, particularly in data centers and emobility.
  • Conducts market and competitive analysis; monitors trends and identifies opportunities to proactively shape consulting offerings.
  • Develops relationships with key customer decisionmakers and influencers, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Supports risk management by identifying and mitigating commercial risks during proposal and contract negotiation phases.
  • Maintains clear communication with internal stakeholders and ensures successful execution of the sales cycle.
Your Background

  • Fluency in Japanese and English (written and verbal) is required.
  • At least Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in sales, business development, or consulting within the energy sector.
  • Strong experience in customer engagement and consultative selling; proven track record of developing business and building customer relationships in Japan and the APAC region.
  • Knowledge of power systems, renewable energy integration, grid modernization, energy storage, and digital energy solutions.
  • Ability to build crossfunctional relationships, collaborate across cultures, and coordinate with other business units.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel across Japan and APAC as required (up to 50%).
  • Candidate must have work authorization to be employed in Japan.
