Linux/Unix Server Engineer - Finance
Summary
Ahead Group is seeking a skilled Linux/Unix Server Engineer - Finance to support a leading global financial institution in Tokyo.
This role focuses on maintaining, automating, and optimizing enterprise-scale server environments while ensuring the stability, performance, and security of critical financial systems.
Responsibilities
• Manage and support Linux-based servers in a production environment
• Perform hands-on Unix administration tasks, including server builds using Kickstart
• Develop and maintain shell and Python scripts for automation and operational efficiency
• Provide production support and handle change management in a controlled environment
• Collaborate with global and cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues
• Engineer software-based solutions to improve reliability, scalability, and security
• Maintain the monitoring platform (Geneos) to ensure proactive system oversight
• Manage the software build environment, including Artifactory, TeamCity, and Bitbucket
Required Skills
• Demonstrated experience in Linux or Unix system administration (RHEL/CentOS preferred)
• Strong scripting ability in Shell and Python
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and ITIL-based change management
• Hands-on experience with monitoring platforms (e.g., Geneos, Nagios, Zabbix)
• Familiarity with CI/CD and build management tools such as TeamCity, Artifactory, and Bitbucket
• Excellent troubleshooting skills in production support environments
• Business-level English communication skills; Japanese proficiency a plus

• Experience in financial services or mission-critical system operations
• Exposure to automation frameworks or infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
• Knowledge of security hardening and compliance practices in enterprise systems
• Ability to contribute to process improvement and documentation initiatives
