Job Title: Japan Investment Compliance Lead
We're looking for a highly skilled and motivated individual to accelerate our expansion plans in Japan.
This is an unique and exciting pioneering opportunity to grow Wise in the region, allowing millions more potential customers to save money by using our services.
Your Mission:
- Manage the licensing process end-to-end for a Type 1 Financial Instruments license registration, including preparing necessary documents, internal policies, and setting up the sufficient internal structure/governance for product execution.
- Work with the global Assets product team for product launches, potential product changes, and new features in the market that would have the biggest impact for our customers.
- Understand existing and new regulations with the banking team, figuring out the best way in which our product and setup are compliant with them.
- Build trust with our regulator by managing and coordinating meaningful reporting internally and externally, responding to information requests, and proactively communicating product changes and notifiable events.
- Keep up to date with regulatory change and provide input to government policy departments on the impact of proposed changes in regulation.
This Role Will Give You the Opportunity to:
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise's business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them interpret the regulatory framework and prepare the information that our regulators need.
- Help keep compliance right at the heart of our product developments and new initiatives by horizon-scanning for new regulatory developments and sharing these with the teams.
Qualifications:
We're looking for someone with a background in payments or other financial regulation, great communication and organisational skills, tons of motivation, and experience in Type 1 Financial Instruments Business licence business for at least 2-4 years.
A Japanese native speaker residing in Japan and fluent in English is essential. Experience in regulation, licensing, or payments in a fast-paced professional environment is also required.
