エネルギーモデリングユニットのファンダメンタルモデリングチームでは、自社開発ツールと商用ツールの両方を活用して国内電力システムのモデル開発と運用を行っています。
本ポジションでは、ファンダメンタルモデルのデータ分析・数理最適化・シミュレーション を担当し、社内アナリストチームと協力して予測モデルを改善し、必要なツールをデプロイおよび運用するためにITチームと連携しながらJERAの戦略的な意思決定に貢献していただきます。
主な業務内容
① モデル開発・データ分析
・国内電力システムのファンダメンタル(数理最適化)モデル開発
② 既存モデルの運用・改善・既存のファンダメンタルモデリングツールの改良

求める経験・スキル

■数理最適化の知識と実務経験
・線形計画法(LP)、整数計画法(MILP)、非線形最適化(NLP)などの理論的理解
・Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, Pyomo などの最適化ソルバーを活用したモデル開発経験
・エネルギー市場やサプライチェーンにおける最適化問題の実務適用経験
■ データ分析・モデリングスキル
・Python, MATLAB, Julia などを用いたデータ解析・モデリングの経験
■コミュニケーション能力
・ステークホルダー(トレーダー、燃料調達チーム、経営層)との適切なコミュニケーションが取れる
・分析結果を簡潔かつ論理的に説明できる

- Company Overview JERA is the largest power generation company in Japan and one of the largest fuel handling capacities in the world. Jera participates in the entire value chain ranging from upstream development, fuel procurement and power generation to wholesale sales of electricity and gas.

We seek to establish new energy supply models for Japan while also offering energy supply models established in Japan to other countries that face similar energy issues, helping to solve the world's energy issues.
- Position Overview This position is part of the Fundamental Modeling Team (FMT) of the Energy Modeling Unit (EMU). EMU provides quantitative decision support to internal stakeholders, supporting Jera's operations through development and operation of in-house and commercial models of Japan's domestic power system. The FMT is responsible for the development, maintenance, and operation of fundamental models used within EMU. FMT supports internal teams by providing analy business cases and daily operation decisions of the company.
The Person Filling This Role Will Be Responsible For
- Operate FMT models
- Analyze output data to support JERA's strategic decision-making in conjunction
- Enhance existing models & building new models with in-house analyst teams
- Coordinate with the IT team to deploy and operate the necessary tools.
- Principle ① Model Development & Data Analysis
- Development of fundamental (mathematical optimization) models of domestic power systems
② Operation and improvement of existing models
- Improving the performance of existing fundamental modeling tools
- Data quality control, pre-processing, and visualization
③ Stakeholder Relations
- Preparation of various reports and presentation materials
- Collaboration with other departments (fuel procurement, power generation planning, risk management, etc.)
- Required Skills & Experience ① Data Analysis & Modeling Skills Experience in data analysis and modeling using Python, MATLAB, Julia, etc.
② Knowledge and practical experience of mathematical optimization
Theoretical understanding of linear programming (LP), integer programming (MILP), nonlinear optimization (NLP), etc.
Experience in model development using optimization solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, PuLP, and Pyomo
Practical application of optimization problems to energy markets, supply chains, etc.
③ Communication skills
Communicate appropriately with stakeholders (traders, fuel procurement teams, management)
Explain analysis results concisely and logicall.
Preferred Skills & Experience (Positive Rating)
① Experience in energy modeling
- Experience in mathematical modeling of electricity and fuel markets
- Basic understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning
- Experience in processing and analyzing time series data
② Programming & System Development Skills
- Experience in data processing and automation using Python, SQL, etc.
- Experience in data analysis and system construction in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)
③ Research & Consulting Experience
- Experience in research and analysis of energy and financial markets
- Experience in quantitative analysis at consulting firms and energy companies
④Communication skills
- Native Japanese or English language skill, Business level in alternate
