About The Role
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
As the media and social lead, the role is responsible for media strategy and plan development, management and improvement of media spending, owned media strategy / plan development and executions across categories to drive growth of sales and profitability. It will cover Dyson businesses across both Direct to consumer and Indirect via 3rd party retail in Japan.
The role incorporates traditional media, digital performance and owned media to deliver the optimum and most effective media spending and social communications.
In this role you are the gatekeeper to grow relationship with our media and social agencies, tasked with ensuring they continue innovating to deliver the required demand. You will impact converting this demand into sales. To deliver this you partner with internal teams both within the Japan business but also across the globe. You will work with a media manager (reporting to this position), multiple local teams (Category management teams, E-commerce team, PR team, Creative and operation team, Finance team), global media teams and external agencies.
Underpinning all the above is insight, ideas and efficiency – you will need a growth mindset and a curiosity to deliver results smarter.
Main Accountabilities And Supporting Activities
Paid media strategy development and management
- Work with Japanese marketing director to define effective spending and allocation across categories / campaigns and channels mainly media planning based on analysis of business performance and media spending to maximize efficiency of media investment
- Report to stakeholders of media performance how to contribute to sales and propose how to improve ROI
- Analyze SOV / SOS data and sales performance with agencies and finance
- Accelerate and embed the understanding of cross channel dependency with insights from marketing mix modelling (MMM).
- Review and manage media agency, timeline, plan and resourcing SOW – as well as quarterly plans to deliver business needs.
- Manage media budget / spending and ensure all JP data inputs to global team are an accurate reflection of how budget is being spent
- Own relationship with agencies, internal team and digital partners (Google, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo etc.) to define to deliver engagement and efficiency at scale.
Paid media planning and support
- Work with category teams and e-commerce team to define media strategy that complements commercial ambition and meets business target of each brand and channel
- Support category teams to create consumer journey of each campaign and to set proper KPI for each touchpoint to meet total KGI of each campaign
- Review all KPIs are met / exceeded and maximum value is extracted from our media investment
Owned media (social) strategy / plan development, execution and management
- Develop social media strategy for each platform (Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, LINE) to recruit new followers, increase engagement, and increase purchase especially at our official site
- Develop and manage and our social media content calendar, including creative briefs and copy writing. You'll work closely with other functions, developing a social media content strategy that supports business goals and strategies, whilst staying true to our global strategy and the expectations of audience and channel.
- Align with category teams and global teams about content and execution
- Monitor each platform to improve social plans and utilize organic actions
- Manage our social listening reports using Sprinklr; brand, category / product and events
- Measure performance with social media tools, ideally Sprinklr, delivering regular reports on the performance of our social media presence across POE.
Fulfil Other Duties As Required
- Fix things that you can see need fixing.
- Identify problems and find solutions.
- Promote and demonstrate Dyson behaviours.
Experience
About You
- Demonstrated experience in marketing – specifically media planning and digital marketing in Japan
- Over 10 years' experience working for FMCG companies
- Experience in managing or working in media agencies both on and offline in Japan
- Experience of social owned media strategy development, planning, and executions
- Proven ability to project manage and drive projects from conception through implementation and to analyse post-campaign results
- Experience using Web analytics tools and Content Management Systems beneficial
- Experience in leading social media and community management or a related field
- Proven experience managing social media planning and listening tools, ideally Sprinklr
- Experience in using first party and third party data to improve relevancy of comms
- Experience of working in Japan and with Japanese media entities
