The Global Ad Technology Department (GATD) manages the whole of the advertising systems that power Rakuten.
We are a cross-functional and data-driven organization working together in a diverse team spread across 4 countries: Japan, Singapore, India, and China.

Our vision is to empower our internal and external stakeholders by providing data driven marketing solutions by developing the AD delivery, Tracking, Reporting and Data Sync Platforms.
Joining us, you will be able to challenge yourself in a wide range of technologies in the frontline of heavy traffic large scale ad applications and platforms, including high performance system development and big data processing systems.
Our group is responsible for building and maintaining the technology and infrastructure that powers advertising activities within the Rakuten environment and externally.
We are not just running ads; we are building the platforms that enable Rakuten and its partners to run ads and marketing activities.

Position Details
You, as a Software Engineer in the team will be required strong direct marketing insight across multiple marketing channels as well as strong technical knowledge to implement user story into the platform and support marketing activity quickly and efficiently.
Your main responsibility will be development and maintenance of Data Management Platform understanding both business demand and available system assets.
In case of trouble, detecting root cause and recovering with team members proactively with ownership of service/system
Proposing new technologies, middle-wares, tools etc. to improve architecture of systems
Mandatory Qualifications
More than 3 years of professional experience on web / data pipeline application development
Development experience on Java, Scala and Web application frameworks such as Spring Boot
Experience on Linux operation system
Familiar with various OSS and able to investigate, evaluate and adopt it to the system
Desired Qualifications
Practical knowledge of system performance tuning including OS, middleware, JVM and application
Familiar with container deployment setting (Docker, k8s, Jenkins)
Experience of Frontend development with TypeScript, React, Material UI
Experience of data processing with Hive, Spark, Kafka
Familiar with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS and Azure
Contributing to OSS community
