Purpose of the Role
Global Blue is a global company operating in various sectors, including VAT refunds for travelers. It is a leading company with the largest amount of TFS transactions in Japan.
The Local Accounts team is responsible for retrieving technical requirements from merchants and local vendors, implementing attractive systems and services to our fast-growing business in Japan while meeting Japanese quality standards.
The holder of this position will work closely with the IT Manager, Local Accounts Japan. They should work on-site as a project manager, managing mid/small size projects, communicating directly with local vendors such as POS vendors and Terminal vendors to ensure smooth integration projects. Additionally, they will be responsible for BAU (Business As Usual) tasks such as trouble shooting, execution of UAT, preparing Business Requirement Specifications in new projects.
Responsibilities
Retrieving Technical Requirements from Stakeholders
The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of Japanese regulations, merchant operations, market trends, device specifications, and other relevant aspects. They will discuss these topics with merchants' personnel in charge (merchant's IT) and local vendors directly.
- Identify potential issues that merchants and local vendors may be unaware of.
- Prepare well-structured Business Requirement Specifications.
- Develop Basic Design documents.
- Conduct thorough UAT (User Acceptance Testing).
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of Global systems and services.
- Maintain a mindset of always seeking the latest information.
- Foster close communication with internal and external stakeholders.
Implementation
The candidate should develop a plan considering the rollout plan to ensure that the effective date of the law and the agreed date with the customer are met. This requires prioritized negotiation with each product team, external vendors, and in some cases, senior management.
- Execute the internal approval process.
- Formulate WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) and manage daily progress.
- Resolve and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
- Manage vendors.
- Collaborate with the Field Service team and ensure a smooth handover.
BAU
In case of trouble, Level 2 support related to Local solutions will be required. The Local Accounts team will take the lead, working with the Central team and local vendors to resolve the issue.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- IT or Technology education;
- 7+ years of working experience with at least 4 years of practical experience as an IT Project Manager.
- Rich experience in developing front-end solutions (including requirements definition, UI, IF, Form design, error handling design).
- Rich experience in developing Multi-platform applications (Windows, iOS, Android).
- Minimum JAVA, C# programming skills (able to review source code).
- Demonstrated experience in managing projects/work streams within projects.
- Excellent communication skills across international teams.
- Excellent organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in an international/multicultural environment is preferred.
- Project Management Certification (PMI, IPMA) is a plus.
- Familiarity with Ticketing Systems is a plus.
- Experience with Payment Systems/Solutions is a plus.
- Excel VBA programming skill is strongly required to automate various daily processes.
- An independent and self-motivating personality, able to work under remote management.
- Strong resolution orientation, interpersonal, communication, and organization skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, presenting ideas clearly and concisely.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and customer service skills, with attention to detail.
