About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Procurement to lead our procurement operations primarily in the Japan and Taiwan region. Reporting into the Head of Procurement, this role will be over overseeing multiple indirect procurement categories, including but not limited to IT, Marketing, Professional Services, Facilities, and Logistics. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a strong people leader, and a change agent who thrives in a fast-paced, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Regional Procurement Strategy: Develop and execute procurement strategies across multiple indirect categories in the Asia region, ensuring alignment with global sourcing strategies, objectives and value delivery. Responsible for achieving procurement savings (P&L, Capital, Non-P&L and other) targets. Create and manage a multi-year pipeline of projects that will deliver value year over year.
  • Sourcing Rigor – Maximize the value output for the business through driving a competitive bid culture and applying advanced sourcing methods and corresponding ways of working.
  • Category Management – Develop category management expertise that translates into actionable multi-year sourcing strategies. Support execution on global strategies.
  • Procurement Technology – have a strong understanding and experience with using procurement technology (i.e. spend analytics, e-sourcing, eAuction, CLM) that will allow you and the team to be more efficient in the ways of working. Develop and maintain in-depth spend analytics, category segmentation and supplier profiling to enable opportunity mining and category management.
  • Drive Organizational Change & Improvement: Serve as a change agent for the Procurement organization, promoting innovation, challenging the status quo, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across processes and capabilities.
  • Manage and Develop Talent: Lead and mentor a team of category leads, fostering a high-performance culture and developing next-generation procurement professionals.
  • Oversee Strategic Supplier Relationships: Build and manage senior-level supplier partnerships to ensure performance, innovation, and long-term value creation.
  • Engage Senior Stakeholders: Collaborate with senior business leaders – including country managers - to align procurement goals with broader business strategies and support critical sourcing and negotiation efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing multiple indirect procurement categories, ideally in a Western / American enterprise.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Proven track record in strategic sourcing, supplier management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in leading or supporting procurement transformation is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills in English; Japanese language proficiency is required. Mandarin is a plus.
  • Experience working in a global matrixed organization.
