WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
This is an exciting opportunity to invent and launch new products and services from the ground up. We're seeking a highly versatile Software Engineer with a builder's mindset, a passion for user-centered design, and the ability to navigate technical ambiguity with confidence and speed.

In this role, you will rapidly prototype and iterate on functional mobile and backend systems—integrating AI, geolocation, and cloud technologies—to validate concepts and define the path toward scalable, production-ready solutions. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, UX researchers, and AI teams to explore technical possibilities and test product value early and often.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly prototype and iterate on mobile applications (iOS/Android) using Flutter or native frameworks to validate product ideas with real users in fast-paced cycles.
• Design and implement scalable cloud backends using , Python, or Go, integrating necessary services like geolocation, map APIs, and storage for functional end-to-end prototypes.
• Integrate AI models and APIs developed by collaborating teams into backend systems to deliver intelligent user-facing features.
• Develop and maintain REST/GraphQL APIs to enable seamless communication between frontend and backend components across platforms.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with UX researchers, designers, and product managers to translate conceptual ideas into working systems and ensure technical feasibility early in the development process.
• Deploy prototypes with basic CI/CD and observability setups, ensuring systems are testable, maintainable, and extensible toward production-ready implementations.

Minimum Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on mobile and backend development in early-stage product environments
• Proven ability to rapidly prototype and iterate on mid- to high-fidelity solutions using technologies such as image-based AI, geolocation/map services, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP)
• Experience in end-to-end system development, including REST/GraphQL API design and integration of AI APIs (e.g., LLMs, ML inference servers)
• Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of working effectively with product managers, UX researchers, and cross-functional teams
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to propose scalable and practical technical approaches in ambiguous and fast-paced environments
• Business-level English and Japanese communication skills

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience developing products in domains such as computer vision, IoT, geospatial systems, smart mobility, autonomous systems, or automotive technologies
• Familiarity with real-time data processing, cloud architecture, and scalable system design
• Hands-on experience with tools and frameworks such as Flutter, Docker, Firebase, or serverless architectures
• Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related technical field
