Job Summary


Cogent Labs is seeking an experienced Machine Learning Engineer to design, develop, and enhance machine-learning solutions for our products, aimed at solving real-world business challenges.

As a member of our highly skilled team, you will be responsible for creating machine learning models that address specific problem statements and are deployable by our engineering team.

We emphasize experience building machine learning solutions as part of productionized systems, as they come with long-term planning and maintenance challenges.

Responsibilities

Leading research initiatives to solve a novel problem, discussing possible directions in terms of the product, and investigating possible solutions using machine learning or internally developed algorithms
Orchestrating and executing the operations around creating or improving features, from choices around data labeling, to training models and evaluating them, and helping with the end-to-end integration
Continuously paying attention to non-functional aspects of feature development such as ease of maintenance, quality of testing, and computation performance in production
Staying up-to-date on developments in relevant machine learning fields
Guiding and mentoring more junior members of the team in terms of possible algorithmic approaches, model training practices or techniques, and software engineering in general

Qualifications And Skills

Required qualifications

At least 4 years of experience developing and integrating machine learning models in productionized solutions
Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, including deep learning, particularly computer vision and NLP
Solid python programming skills, including experience with modern machine learning libraries (e.g. pytorch)
Ability to produce high quality code that can be directly used in production (e.g. auto code formatting, type checking, code testing, efficient data structures and algorithms)

Nice To Have Qualifications

Japanese language ability
PhD or advanced degree in computer science or a related field
Experience designing complex, distributed software architectures
Experience using MLOps technologies


We are working in a dynamic environment, using modern technologies such as PyTorch, Docker, Knative, Kafka, Kubernetes, Nvidia Triton, Github Actions, and cloud platforms such as Google Cloud Platform and Amazon Web Services.

Salary Annual salary (Total Target Cash Compensation) : 8.0 million yen to 11.5 million yen Details: Monthly salary : 583,335 yen to 833,335 yen Base salary 431,600 yen + fixed overtime pay [for 45 hours] 151,735 yen ~ Base salary 541,456 yen + fixed overtime allowance [for 45 hours] 190,356 yen + fixed late night work allowance [for 20 hours] 101,523 yen ※Additional overtime pay will be provided for hours worked beyond 45 hours / 20 hours [late night].

※Base salary will be determined based on experience and ability ※Performance-based bonuses are provided twice a year ※Commuting Allowance are paid separately
Working hours - Basic working hours 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Break - 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. (60 minutes)
Holidays - Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, and year-end and New Year holidays
