Kort Valuta is a leading innovator in ID technology, responsible for the deployment of TwooCa Wallet, Japan's first employee ID application that supports hybrid payments and a digital payroll.

Role Description:

We are looking for a Full Stack Engineer to join our team in a full-time, on-site position based in Tokyo, Japan. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and operating both front-end and back-end features of our web applications, primarily utilizing Ruby on Rails and React.

Your responsibilities will include designing and implementing RESTful APIs, managing and designing databases using PostgreSQL, and maintaining code version control with Git. You will also work with container technologies like Docker and contribute to the deployment and maintenance of applications on cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP.

You will be expected to collaborate in an environment based on microservices architecture and contribute to the design and improvement of distributed systems. Experience working with or migrating to microservices will be highly valuable.

Additionally, you'll support the improvement of development workflows through test automation (utilizing tools such as RSpec and Jest) and the implementation of CI/CD pipelines. Working closely with designers and other developers, you'll help deliver scalable, high-performance, user-friendly services.

Since day-to-day communication is conducted in Japanese, a language proficiency level of JLPT N3 or higher is required. Experience or interest in payment systems or health tech is also welcome.

Qualifications:

・3+ years of professional experience in full-stack development

・Proficiency with Ruby on Rails and React

・Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs

・Solid understanding of relational databases, especially PostgreSQL, and database design

・Experience with Git or other version control systems

・Basic knowledge of container technologies such as Docker

・Experience developing and deploying applications on cloud platforms like AWS or GCP

・Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, including system design, communication patterns (e.g., HTTP/REST, messaging), and service orchestrationStrong problem-solving and debugging abilities

・JLPT N3 or higher in Japanese (written and spoken)

・Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with test automation (e.g., RSpec, Jest) and CI/CD pipeline setup
  • Background or interest in payment systems or health tech
