•Support the Head of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability (EHS&S) to lead the team in creating an entire Environment strategy planning and advocacy with cross-functional teams.
•Support the Head of EHS&S to achieve SG4b in CSP2021 (and beyond) by proposing the team's annual objectives and division of duties/daily tasks in collaboration with cross-functional teams, as required.
•Build strong capability and understanding of Environment Sustainability.
•Foster a culture of EHS within the organization by promoting best practices and encouraging employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
•Align the team's activities to Astellas' OHGs, Performance and Strategic Goals.
•Ensure adherence to all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations to mitigate legal risks and maintain operational integrity.
•Identify, assess, and manage internal/external EHS risks to protect employees, the environment, company assets, and product supply.
•Foster a culture of safety within the organization by promoting best practices and encouraging employee engagement in EHS initiatives.
•Design and implement effective EHS programs and policies that align with organizational goals and industry standards.
•Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employee awareness and understanding of EHS practices and compliance requirements.
•Lead investigations of EHS incidents, including assessments, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
•Drive sustainability efforts by promoting environmentally responsible practices and reducing the company's ecological footprint.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners to ensure comprehensive EHS strategies that support business objectives and enhance community relations.
Internal Stakeholders: Sustainability, Corporate Strategy, Corporate Finance, Procurement, Corporate Communications, Research, Technology & Manufacturing, Internal Audit, HR, Legal, E&C, Applied Research Organisation.
External Stakeholders: PWC, KPMG, EY, Industry regulators and associations, Pharma Industry stakeholders globally.
Minimum Qualification: BS or BA degree (in environmental science, occupational health, safety management, or a related field). Advanced degrees (e.g., Master's or PhD) may be preferred.
High perspective, Wide field of view, Deepen understanding of environment matters across globe, Strategic thinking and approach, English business communication (writing, speaking), Japanese business communication (writing, speaking).
Minimum Experience: Several years of experience in EHS roles, with a proven track record in leadership positions. Experience in regulatory compliance and risk management is essential.
In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal EHS regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
Strong leadership abilities and proven ability of project management as well as the ability to guide EHS initiatives and foster a culture of safety within the organization.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey EHS policies and procedures to various stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess risks and develop effective EHS strategies.
Experience in project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of EHS programs and initiatives.
Ability to design and implement training programs to educate employees on EHS practices and compliance.
Strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external regulatory agencies.
Commitment to continuous improvement in EHS practices and staying updated on industry trends and best practices.
