Overview

Money Forward is entering a major transformation from “Cloud to AI.” Our development organization is evolving to fully leverage AI and achieve high productivity with compact, high-impact teams. The PRE Division is responsible for the infrastructure, SRE, and platform that support all company-wide products. We are currently promoting “Platform Engineering for the AI era,” replacing traditional operations with an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and automation. We are looking for colleagues who can bridge SRE and Platform, and lead the entire journey from problem discovery to tool development and platformization.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Drive cross-cutting Platform Engineering across SRE and Platform
You will lead the end-to-end cycle from identifying and abstracting issues in development and operations, to designing, implementing, and rolling out tools and platforms that address those challenges. This includes collaborating closely with product teams, understanding their workflows and constraints, and translating them into reusable platform capabilities. You will also be responsible for continuously improving these platforms based on feedback and metrics to ensure sustained adoption.

  2. Planning, development, and rollout of internal IDP tools
You will plan, design, and develop tools that make up our Internal Developer Platform (IDP), such as our developer portal “Lumos” and SRE-focused AI tool “Sherlock,” mainly using Go and TypeScript. Your role will cover the full lifecycle from prototyping to production deployment and internal rollout, ensuring the tools integrate well with existing systems and workflows. You will work closely with engineers across the company to promote usage, collect feedback, and refine the tools so they become indispensable parts of our development ecosystem.

  3. Automation of incident response and operations using AI
You will integrate AI agents into our operations to automate incident response and routine operational tasks. This includes designing workflows where AI assists with detection, triage, remediation suggestions, and in some cases fully automated handling of known issues. You will also establish monitoring, guardrails, and evaluation mechanisms to ensure that AI-driven automation is safe, reliable, and continuously improving.

  4. Serve as a tech lead and guide the team
As a tech lead, you will drive key technical decisions and set architectural directions for the team. You will mentor and support team members through code reviews, design discussions, and pair work, helping them grow their technical and problem-solving skills. You will also collaborate with other leaders in the organization to align technical strategy, share best practices, and elevate the overall capabilities of the SRE and Platform functions.

Job Satisfaction and Experience Gained

You will have the opportunity to work on both SRE and Platform perspectives without being constrained by organizational silos, shaping the core foundations that support all Money Forward products. You will be at the forefront of integrating AI agents into production operations on a company-wide scale, gaining hands-on experience in cutting-edge AI-ops practices. The tools and platforms you create will be used by engineers across the entire organization, allowing you to directly experience how your work transforms development and operations. Through this role, you will build deep expertise in Platform Engineering for the AI era, combining infrastructure, reliability, and AI-driven automation.

Expected Role

You are expected to lead Platform Engineering initiatives that span both SRE and Platform domains. This means proactively identifying real-world issues in development and operations, and solving them in the form of tools and platforms that scale across teams. You will be responsible for improving both productivity and reliability at the organizational level by establishing common standards, guardrails, and self-service capabilities. In the mid to long term, you are expected to become a core leader in the organization, contributing not only to technical direction but also to building and shaping teams and organizational structures.

Expected Mindset

You are highly curious and continuously absorb new technologies and knowledge, applying them pragmatically to your work. You do not wait for instructions; instead, you actively seek out problems, propose solutions, and take ownership of new challenges. You are not constrained by traditional role boundaries such as SRE, Platform, or application development, and you are comfortable crossing these boundaries to create value. Rather than automating existing processes as-is, you start by questioning whether the requirements are truly necessary, whether steps can be removed, and how the system can be simplified before implementing automation. You see AI not just as a tool but as a partner, and you are willing to continuously update your own way of working by leveraging AI.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as an SRE, infrastructure engineer, or platform engineer.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating systems using AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), and Terraform.
  • Experience designing, developing, and rolling out IDPs, developer portals (such as Backstage), or internal tools using Go or TypeScript, and successfully driving their adoption by users.
  • Proven track record of significantly improving development or operations efficiency through the use of AI.
  • Experience building standardization and guardrails using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Policy as Code.
  • Experience as a tech lead or team lead, including ownership of technical decision-making.
  • Experience communicating in English (e.g., collaborating with members at overseas locations).

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience developing applications or tools using LLMs or AI agents.
  • Experience in people management.
  • Experience practicing DevSecOps or integrating security checks into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience contributing to OSS, writing technical blogs, or speaking at conferences and other external events.
  • Experience in AI development and/or experience in using AI tools to improve development processes.

    • Money Forward is at a major turning point, shifting "from Cloud to AI." We are currently driving "AX (AI Transformation)"—the next step beyond DX—with the goal of providing "Digital Workers," where AI agents autonomously execute tasks. As we enter a phase of evolving into Japan's No. 1 back-office AI company by integrating AI agents into all of our products in the future, we are looking for individuals who can contribute to AI-driven development and value creation.(More information here)

Language Requirements

  • Japanese: N3 Level (Able to communicate internally using translation tools for text and conversation).
  • English: TOEIC score of 700 or above.
Note: If you have other qualifications or experiences demonstrating English proficiency, such as EIKEN Pre-1, EIKEN 2nd Grade (CSE score 1950+), TOEFL iBT 60+, IELTS 5.0+, or Cambridge FCE.), feel free to discuss with us)
For those without a TOEIC 700+ equivalent score, they will be asked to take a designated test during the interview process (generally after the first interview

Who We’re Looking For

You question existing processes and procedures instead of taking them for granted, and you are willing to revisit their necessity from first principles. You enjoy exploring new technologies on your own and are able to connect them to real problem-solving in development and operations. You think beyond the boundaries of SRE and Platform domains, and always consider what is optimal for the organization as a whole. You are passionate about leveraging AI to fundamentally transform how operations are performed, and about building a future where engineers can focus on higher-value work.
